The International Plastic Bag Free Day, which is celebrated on July 3, is a global initiative aimed at eliminating the use of plastic bags.
Plastic bags may be convenient for grocery shopping and are easy to produce, but they are also a major burden on the environment. According to estimates, there are now between 100 and 142 million tons of waste in the oceans. Up to 10 million more tons are discharged every year.
Plastic is almost imperishable in the sea and decomposes only very slowly. Therefore, the remnants of our throwaway society cost the lives of up to 135,000 marine mammals and one million seabirds every year.
But fortunately, there are more and more sustainable alternatives that can be used for many years without constant waste production.
At SailyGroup, we believe that our precious planet should be protected in the best possible way. That’s why we are very proud of our own fabric bags, which are a small but important step in the right direction.
